  • Baked Ham with Maple Glaze Recipe

    Ingredients

    1 (5 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
    2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
    1 tablespoon dry mustard

    Directions

    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Trim excess fat off the ham and score in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife, making shallow cuts about 1 inch apart. Place in a roasting pan.

    Roast for 30 minutes in the preheated oven. In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard and mustard powder.

    When the 30 minutes are up, brush 1/3 of the glaze over the ham. Bake 20 minutes, and repeat twice with remaining glaze. Let the ham stand for 10 to 15 minutes before carving.

  • Recipe For Chinese Pasta Salad

    Ingredients

    1 medium head cabbage, shredded
    4 green onions, sliced
    1/2 cup slivered almonds
    1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles with seasoning packet
    1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
    1/4 cup vegetable oil
    1/2 cup rice wine vinegar

    Directions

    In large bowl, combine cabbage, green onion and almonds. Crush ramen noodles and add to bowl with cilantro. Toss.

    In small bowl, combine oil, vinegar and contents of ramen noodle seasoning packet. Toss dressing with cabbage mixture. Serve.

  • Lentil and Buckwheat Salad Recipe

    Ingredients

    4 cups vegetable broth
    1 cup green lentils, rinsed and drained
    2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
    2 medium onions, chopped
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    3 carrots, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    2 tablespoons salt-free seasoning blend
    1 teaspoon chopped fresh marjoram leaves
    1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
    1 teaspoon chopped fresh lemon thyme
    1 tablespoon ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
    1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
    1 egg
    1 cup uncooked roasted buckwheat groats
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

    Directions

    Bring broth to a boil in a large pot over high heat. Stir in lentils, reduce heat to low and simmer until lentils are tender but firm, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain, but reserve liquid. Transfer lentils to a large bowl.

    Heat olive oil over medium heat in a skillet. Cook onions until they are soft and translucent about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add celery, carrots, and garlic and continue cooking until carrots are just tender, about 10 minutes. Stir vegetables into lentils. Mix in the seasoning blend, marjoram, thyme, lemon thyme, cumin, crushed red pepper, and cardamom. Set aside.

    Whisk egg in a bowl; add the buckwheat and stir until well coated with egg.

    Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add buckwheat and egg mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until buckwheat has absorbed the egg and appears dry, about 10 minutes. Stir in 2 cups of the reserved lentil liquid and bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat to low and simmer until liquid is absorbed and buckwheat is soft but maintains its shape and texture, 15 to 25 minutes.

    Mix buckwheat into lentil mixture. Season with salt, pepper, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and vinegar. Stir and adjust seasonings. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chil

  • Zesty White Wine Green Beans Recipe

    Ingredients

    2 tablespoons olive oil
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    salt and ground black pepper to taste
    2 (14.5 ounce) cans French-style green beans, drained
    1 cup white wine

    Directions

    Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown the garlic in the oil; season with salt and pepper. Add the green beans and toss to coat. Pour the white wine over the green beans; simmer until the wine reduces in volume by half, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Serve hot.
