  • Recipe For Ranch-Style Salad Dressing

    Ingredients

    3/4 cup sour cream
    3/4 cup mayonnaise
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
    2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    2 1/4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives
    1 1/2 teaspoons minced shallot
    1 1/2 teaspoons Dijon-style prepared mustard
    1/2 teaspoon celery seed

    Directions

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, buttermilk, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, chives, shallot, mustard and celery seed. Refrigerate for one hour to allow the flavors to blend.

  • Recipe For Colorful Pork and Noodles

    Ingredients

    1 medium green pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    2 pounds boneless pork, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
    1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed chicken broth, undiluted
    1 medium onion, chopped
    3/4 cup white wine or chicken broth
    2 garlic cloves, minced
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    1 (16 ounce) package wide egg noodles
    1 medium tomato, seeded and chopped
    6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup cold water
    1/4 cup sour cream
    1/2 teaspoon browning sauce

    Directions

    In a pressure cooker, saute green pepper in oil until crisp-tender. Remove with a slotted spoon; set aside. Brown pork in pressure cooker over medium-high heat; drain. Stir in the broth, onion, wine or broth, garlic and pepper.

    Close cover securely; place pressure regulator on vent pipe. Bring cooker to full pressure over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-high and cook for 12 minutes. (Pressure regulator should maintain a slow steady rocking motion; adjust heat if needed.)

    Remove from the heat; immediately cool according to a manufacturer’s directions until pressure is completely reduced. Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions. Stir tomato and reserved green pepper into the pork mixture. Combine flour and cold water until smooth; stir into pork mixture.

    Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat to low; stir in sour cream and browning sauce if desired. Drain noodles; serving with pork mixture.

  • Recipe For Clams Creole

    Ingredients

    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1/2 cup chopped green onions, white part only
    1/2 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
    1/2 cup finely chopped celery
    2 teaspoons minced garlic
    1/4 cup white wine
    1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chile peppers
    2 pounds fresh cherrystone or littleneck clams, scrubbed

    Directions

    Heat oil in a pot large enough to hold your clams, over medium heat. Add the onions, green pepper, celery and garlic; and cook, stirring until tender, about 5 minutes.

    Stir in the can of tomatoes with green chilies, wine and clams. Turn the heat up to medium-high, cover the pot, and cook for 5 to 8 minutes, or just until all of the clams have opened. Remove from heat immediately.

  • Lisa’s Super Sangria

    Ingredients

    1 lemon, sliced
    1 lime, sliced
    1 orange, sliced
    1 1/2 cups gin
    2 (750 milliliter) bottles dry white wine
    1 cup orange juice
    1/4 cup frozen cranberry juice concentrate, thawed
    1/2 cup tonic water
    3/4 cup pomegranate seeds (from a fresh pomegranate)

    Directions

    Arrange the lemon, lime, and orange slices in the bottom of a pitcher or punch bowl. Pour the gin over the fruit slices; cover. Refrigerate overnight.

    Just before serving, pour the wine, orange juice, cranberry concentrate, tonic water, and pomegranate seeds into the gin; stir.
